Tips on Using this Website
to Find a Psychologist

The Hawaii Psychological Association (HPA) provides it’s online Directory of Members  as a way for you to find psychologists who are located near you and who may provide the services you want.

Probably the easiest approach is to use the search box in the upper right corner.  Search terms may include names, psychological concerns (e.g. "depression" "couples" "children" "PTSD" "addiction") or even just your zip code. If you want assistance, feel free to call the HPA office at 521-8995.

When you click on the search icon or press the "enter" key you will see a smaller list of psychologists whose self-described services match with your requested terms. Click on any psychologist's name to find out more about that psychologist. Many psychologists have their web pages that further describe their services.

We suggest that you contact at least three psychologists by phone before you choose the one with whom you wish to make an appointment. You may want to discuss how much experience the psychologist has had with similar problems, the cost of services, whether your insurance is accepted, how frequently you would be seen, the predicted length of treatment, and any questions you have about training or experience. HPA does not endorse any particular psychologist.  You should verify any information and decide whether a particular psychologist is appropriate for you.

Please remember that most psychologists will be in session with clients when you call, so you may need to leave a message as to where and when the psychologist can return your call.

Psychologists are professionals with five or more years of doctoral training in mental/behavioral health in a graduate psychology program.

All of the psychologists participating in the Hawaii Psychological Association's listing of psychologists have provided the information about their practice and interest areas (and it is the member's responsibility to advise HPA of any changes).

HPA does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the information contained in the HPA Referral Service.
